Pleasanton News

Thank you to everyone who attened the National Night Out block Party on Tuesday. Also thank you for bringing side dishes, tables, etc, etc. It was a good time and I think everyone met some new neighbors. There is still alot of hamburgers, and buns left over, which will lead me into a question. Do we as a neighborhood want to have another block party in early October? This could be in conjuction with a fall clean up day.
Our next neighborhood meeting will be Sept. 6th at 7pm at the Emerson Avenue Baptist Church. It is confirmed with the staff at the church and we will have another similar agenda.
We are getting things going again and seems like alot of the residents would like to help in some fashion. Any ideas are always welcome. I have talked to Pat Brown from the Irvington Garden Club, she stated that they had a couple volunteers that had planted roses on the berm on the parkway and that they had planted bulbs on the Kin Hubbard Memorial in the past. One problem they have is that there aren't enough volunteers. We could pick up the slack just need to find the people and time. We can discuss this at the Sept meeting.
I am working on a design for the street signs, good thing that there isn't a deadline.
After talking with Paul Diebold of the IHS who works for the DNR. He has stated that the ceremony is at the DNR amphitheater behind DNR bldg. It starts at 1pm and will last approx 30-45 minutes. He said that the certificates will then be presented to the Irvington Historical Society. Pleasanton residents are welcome to attend. You would have to get a fair ticket to get into the grounds of the fair. I was thinking it was going to be more of an all day affair.
Let me know your ideas and tell your neighbors too.
