Hello all, I would like to breakdown some of the information that was on July 20th. First of all we had a decent showing and some good conversation about the neighborhood. I handed out some National Registry of Historic Places certificates for those that didn't recieve one. I still have just a couple left, and will make some copies to hand out for anyone still wanting one.
Crime. Neighbors have lost some items when they leave their vehicles unlocked. We are human and sometimes we forget to do it, but must remember that a "passerby on foot" will open your car door to look for a quick grab. I heard from a neighbor on Emerson that a car had drove by and opened fire. This was awhile ago but I remember last year a lady was caught in a drive by on the north side of Michigan St. There is crime we just can't stop. But there is alot we can prevent by keeping our lights on at night, call 911 or non-emergency # at anytime. That's what the cops are there for to protect and serve us, Pleasanton residents. If any type of crime or misfortune happens to your property or self please let your neighbors know.
Neighborhood Activities and Future Projects. On August 2nd we are have the National Night Out Block Party on Poplar Rd. It will start around 6-7pm and last until 9pm or so. Please your own beverage and a side dish. Jim Hammond graciously donated $100 for the meat and such. Remember to thank Jim for his generosity. It is a good time to meet new neighbors and catch up with the ones you haven't talked to in awhile.
Pleasanton Neighborhood Signs. I have made correspondence with Ruth Ann Walker the Far Eastside Liasion to the Mayor. I would like to get signs to put up around the neighborhood to give Pleasanton that extra touch. If anyone has a design in mind send it to the blog for all to see.
New sidewalks. We need new sidewalks on the interior and on Michigan St. Bobbie McCoy has sent Ben Hunter a message on the need for new sidewalks. Thanks Bobbie.
Kin Hubbard Memorial Park. Up keep of that little piece of land. The Irvington Garden Club has taken care of that in the past. I will contact Pat Brown from the Garden Club for info.
Fall Clean Up Day. I mentioned a fall clean up day for the neighborhood. We could pitch in and rent a dumpster for a day or two and clean the brick gutter, pick up trash along parkway, Kin Hubbard Park, yard trash you might have, dead limbs in your yard. It was mentioned that Keep Indianapolis Beautiful could be contacted. Molly Wilson works for K.I.B. and could get us more info on that.
Our next meeting will be Sept. 6th @ Emerson Ave Baptist church 7pm. It is not yet confirmed with the church. I will let you know if it changes.
We are working on getting everyone's contact info, so if you talk to your neighbors that haven't got e-mails please forward their info along so Pleasanton residents will be on the same page.
